A sequel that undoes its own first film

This one does not capture what made the first one work.

Anne Hathaway’s character has strayed far from what the original was about, and the entire development track that made her worth following is simply gone. The plot is scattered on top of that, and Emily Blunt’s character is reduced to a side plot when she should have been closer to the centre of it.

Meryl Streep’s character takes a complete 180 into a loss of control, which undoes the exact thing that made her interesting the first time around.

It felt like a movie that did not need to exist, made mainly to service the brands sponsoring it. The 6.0 is what is left over once you set the original beside it.
